U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District
May 9, 2015 | 3:28
A rediscovered segment of the Trail of Tears has been identified and marked on public land near the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s East Fork Recreation Area in Smyrna, Tenn. The president of the Native History Association provided an interpretive tour for Corps employees May 9, 2015 on the pathway where approximately 4,000 Cherokee Indians passed through in 1838 when they were forced to migrate to Indian Territory in present day Oklahoma.
