Marine Minute
Defense Media Activity - Marines
Dec. 12, 2016 | 1:00
I'm Private First Class Troy Saunders with your Marine Minute.
Effective immediately, Marines and sailors-serving with Marine units will wear their woodland-combat-utility uniform all year long. The decision was announced December 8th after being signed by Commandant General Robert Neller. Marines will still roll their sleeves during the summertime and roll them down during the winter. For units outside the continental United States, the relevant Marine Forces commander will determine which utility uniform will be worn.
Marines with Special-Purpose MAG-TF Crisis-Response-Africa wrapped up engineering and logistics training with Uganda People's Defense Force soldiers December 11th. 1st Lt. Ty Hubicki, Theater Sustainment Command team leader, says the 3-month training offered the Ugandan soldiers a great opportunity.
"Training's gone incredibly well, thats given our students a chance to witness and experience interoperability within their own military. working with their own ground combat element, coupled with the engineering and logistics students that we've trained."
President Obama is expected to sign off on a Defense Bill, which includes a 2.1-percent increase on troop pay. The 2017 National Defense Authorization Act applies to basic pay for troops; it's separate from the cost-of-living adjustment for veterans, military retirees and recipients of V-A disability compensation.
That's it for your Marine Minute, for more news around the Marine Corps go to marines dot mil.
