The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is completing an Environmental Impact Statement studying predation by double-crested cormorants on Columbia River juvenile salmon and steelhead.

The Corps is studying nesting behavior to understand the impacts if the double-crested cormorants’ nesting habitat were reduced. The information will be included in an Environmental Impact Statement, expected to be complete in 2014.
