Brigadier General John P. Stanley currently serves as the Deputy Commanding General of the 75th Innovation Command with responsibility to develop, integrate, and lead the primary staff of a 2 Star headquarters, two innovation brigades, and four innovation battalions to accelerate capability development within the Army Reserve through persistent experimentation by, with and through partners across the transformation enterprise.
Stanley previously served as the 55th Sustainment Brigade Commander. He graduated from Florida Southern College, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was commissioned as an Air Defense Officer in the United States Army. He earned a Master of Science degree with Honors, in Project Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College. BG Stanley originates from Auburndale, Florida.
Stanley has served in a variety of command and staff positions over his military career. He began as a Stinger Platoon Leader in the Air Defense Artillery. His other active-duty assignments include: Bradley Stinger Fighting Vehicle Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, and Battalion S-1. He transferred to the Army Reserve where his assignments included: Assistant Professor of Military Science at Georgetown University, Battalion Military Transition Team Leader in Ninevah Province, Iraq, Chief of Mobilization of Fort Stewart, Georgia, Brigade Operations Officer at 1189th Transportation Surface Brigade, Battalion Commander of 1182nd Deployment and Distribution Support Battalion, Systems Synchronization Officer at HQDA G8, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans, and Training of the Deployment Support Command, Brigade Commander of the 757 Rail, Director of Innovation for 75th Innovation Command, Brigade Commander 55th Sustainment BDE and Deputy Commanding General of 75th Innovation Command .
Stanley’s awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Silver Hourglass and M device, Army Service Ribbon and Army Overseas Service Ribbon (2 awards).
Stanley’s military education includes the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, Senior Leader Reserve Theater Sustainment Transition Course and U.S. Army War College.
In his civilian capacity, Stanley serves as a founder and owner of JPS Global Consulting Group where he serves as a trusted advisor to assist government executives and industry to navigate complex national security dynamics in delivering innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies to our warfighters and allies. Currently supporting PM Biometrics within the Program Executive Office Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Systems, Assistant Secretary of the Army, Acquisition, Logistics & Technology that is responsible for managing the support functions required to field and maintain the readiness and operational capability of the Army’s Biometric and Forensic systems, subsystems, and components.
