Chief Warrant Officer 5 John F. Horn
Command Chief Warrant Officer
Chief Warrant Officer 5 John F. Horn assumed the duties of Command Chief Warrant Officer for the 75th United States Army Reserve Innovation Command in December 2021.
Enlisting into the Army in 1988, Chief Warrant Officer Horn started his career as Intelligence Analyst in the 356th Military Intelligence Special Forces, Combat Electronic Warfare Intelligence, Airborne, and was later assigned to D Co., 3rd Bn., 20th Group Special Forces. Throughout his tenure, Chief Warrant Officer Horn provided intelligence support in Honduras, Puerto Rico, and was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991.
Chief Warrant Officer Horn served as a Central Asian States Analyst with United States Central Command, Joint Intelligence Center until early 2000, then continued to serve in a variety of assignments to include as a Targeting Officer developing Measurements and Scientific Intelligence Targeting products, and as an Operations Officer developing high value targets, and lead analyst in charge of standing up the J2 Analytical Cell, Combined Forces Command (Afghanistan).
In 2006, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Horn accepted reassigned to Detachment 2, 2500 Military Intelligence Group serving as the Senior All Source Intelligence Advisor. In 2017, he was selected to serve as the Senior Warrant Officer Advisor for the Central Command Army Reserve Element and the 648th Regional Support Group. Chief Warrant Officer Horn became the Command Chief Warrant Officer of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command in 2018. In April 2021, Chief Warrant Officer Horn became the Command Chief Warrant Officer of Army Reserve Medical Command.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Horn holds a
Master of Business Administration
from Jacksonville University and a
Bachelor of Science
in Microbiology, Cell Science and Chemistry from the University of Florida. He is a graduate of the All Source Intelligence Analyst Course, Basic Parachutist Course, All Source Intelligence Technician Course, Military Intelligence Warrant Officer Advanced Course, National Ground Intelligence Center Analytic Writing Course, Warrant Officer Staff Course, and Warrant Officer Senior Service Education Phases 1-3.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Horn's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal (3), Join Serve Achievement Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (4), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (9), National Defense Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2), Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and Expert Marksmanship Badge (pistol and rifle). Foreign Badges include German Armed Forces Marksmanship, Badge Silver (
Schützenschnur
), Honduran Parachute badge, and the Knowlton Award.
In his civilian capacity, Chief Warrant Officer Horn works in Business Development Management for Black Knight, Inc., a technology company in the finance industry.
