WASHINGTON –
Representatives from the U.S. Army and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force agreed to a framework for future cooperation during a bilateral meeting Monday.
Patrick Mason, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Defense Exports and Cooperation, and Japan's Major General Satoru Ohashi, Deputy Director General, Project Management (Ground Systems), Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency, signed the Terms of Reference while meeting at the Association of the United States Army annual conference.
The document provides guidelines for the conduct of the Army/Ground Service-to-Service Dialog between the organizations for strategic-level discussions on international armaments cooperation in science and technology and acquisition. This strategic dialogue is intended to inform and guide bilateral cooperation and collaboration on requirements harmonization and research, development and acquisition programs and activities for existing and emerging areas of mutual interest and benefit.
