Pfc. Wilbur C. Mattern Laid to Rest

Pfc. Wilbur C. Mattern, Company M, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Nov. 21, 2016. The Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency recovered his remains earlier this year, bringing a total of 113 U.S. Servicemembers home in 2016, so far. Their mission is to search for missing personnel from past and recent conflicts. Mattern was recovered on the island of Betio, which was involved in the Battle of Tarawa on Nov. 20-22, 1943, during World War II. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Sgt. Remington Hall)
