ARABIAN GULF (April 4, 2019) The Cyclone-class coastal patrol ships USS Thunderbolt (PC 12), USS Whirlwind (PC 11), and USS Chinook (PC 9) and the patrol boat USCGC Aquidneck (WPB 1309) participate in a Ready for Operations exercise in the Arabian gulf. The Thunderbolt, Whirlwind, Chinook and Aquidneck are forward-deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
