New DoD Pain Assessment Tool
Defense Health Agency
April 1, 2015 | 4:19
The Defense and Veterans Pain Rating Scale (DVPRS) is a tool developed and validated by DoD clinicians and patients. This video provides an overview of how the DVPRS improves the pain conversation between a clinician and patient, and why that is important for improving outcomes not only in pain intensity, but also in other areas such as physical function, activity, mood and sleep. The DVPRS is the designated pain scale for military medical treatment facilities. This video is a product of the Department of Defense (DoD)-Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Joint Pain Education Project (JPEP).
