BROLL U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart leadership celebrates Fasching
AFN Stuttgart
Feb. 11, 2023 | 14:55
Col. Matthew Ziglar, U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart commander, joined Saliou Gueye, Zuffenhausen district mayor, in one of Germany's Fasching traditions where "rioters" dress up and storm the local townhall Feb. 11, at Zuffenhausen, Germany. There are three different words in German for “Carnival” or “Mardi Gras”: Karneval, Fasching and Fastnacht. Although all three refer to the same pre-Lenten observance, each has a different tradition and reflects somewhat different customs in different regions of the German-speaking world. The event was filled with music, dancing, candy and poetry.
