U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jason Massengill, OB/GYN physician assigned to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio performs vital checks of a Guyanese patient at the Linden Hospital Complex during New Horizons exercise 2019 at Linden, Guyana, May 22, 2019. U.S. military members will provide surgical services during a two week women’s health readiness training exercise that will focus on reducing a backlog of patients awaiting care due to Guyana’s limited medical resources. The New Horizons exercise 2019 provides U.S. military members an opportunity to train for an overseas deployment and the logistical requirements it entails. The exercise promotes bilateral cooperation by providing opportunities for U.S. and partner nation military engineers, medical personnel and support staff to work and train side by side.(U.S. Air Force video by Staff Sergeant Matthew Hester)
