U.S. Army Gen. Stephen R. Lyons took command of U.S. Transportation Command in a ceremony here Aug. 24, becoming the first Army officer to lead the global combatant command. U.S. Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis presided over the ceremony. USTRANSCOM is a global combatant command and transportation provider for the Department of Defense. The command moves, sustains the force and operates the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise.
