1st Sgt. Richard Gaines joined the 91st Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division about midway through the Atlantic Resolve deployment while the battalion was still in Boleslawiec, Poland. His infectious personality made new connections easy and his leadership was critical to a successful transition to Echo Company as he was tasked to replace the outgoing 1st Sgt who brought the Company from Ft. Hood, Texas. 1SG Gaines job is to bring them home. He explains his was not your typical Change of Responsibility but he was up for the challenge.
