Soldier Deployable Geospatial Technologies
SDGT is a collection of geospatial technologies that enables the Soldier to autonomously acquire high-resolution 2D and 3D mapping data on-demand.
SDGT technologies:
Mapping micro unmanned airborne systems – Micro-UMS are very light (1.5 lbs.), fixed-wing platforms with an endurance of 45 minutes or greater. Hundreds of still-frame images of the mission area are loaded into a photogrammetry software on a laptop.
Mast and tower-mounted LIDAR – continuous wave laser scanning system collects 3D terrain with accurate change detection and automatically integrates changes. It detects and identifies sniper scopes.
FMV-to-3D software – processes full motion video from any airborne DoD, MISB-compliant platform. Software creates 2D orthomosaics, digital elevation data, passive 3D point clouds and textured 3D models.
