Robert Barton, supervisory program officer with USAID, turns over humanitarian assistance equipment to Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon, a director for the Philippine Department of Health, during exercise Balikatan in Subic Bay, Philippines April 6, 2016. The exercise provided an opportunity to deliver the equipment on U.S. Naval Ships to the Philippines. Balikatan, which means "shoulder to shoulder" in Filipino, is an annual bilateral training exercise focused on improving the ability of Philippine and U.S. military forces to work together during planning, contingency and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
