Snail Release
DMA Pacific - Hawaii Media Bureau
Feb. 21, 2012 | 3:03
B-Roll of the Army Garrison-Hawaii Natural Resources Team's trip to the Waianae Mountains in Oahu to release a species of snail, the Oahu Tree Snail, back to its natural habitat. The team preserved this endangered species and allowed the snail to multiply in captivity before introducing it to an exclosure structure built to keep out predators that were threatening the snail population. This is part of the Team's overall mission to ensure the Army is compliant with the Endangered Species Act, thus enabling the Army to continue training on land in Hawaii.
