Marine Minute: 14.2-25 (AUDIO)
Defense Media Activity - Marines
April 7, 2025 | 1:00
WELCOME I’M LANCE CPL. JOSEPH DEMARCUS WITH YOUR MARINE MINUTE!
MARINES IN HAWAII ARE TESTING THE NAVY MARINE EXPEDITIONARY SHIP INTERDICTION SYSTEM OR NMESIS.
THE NMESIS ALLOWS MARINES TO REMOTELY TARGET AND DESTROY SHIPS FROM LAND. THIS EXERCISE CHALLENGES THE MARINES TO NOT ONLY FIRE THE NMESIS, BUT ALSO MOVE IT THROUGH UNKNOWN TERRAIN.
SGT. CHESNEY STANCZYK, A LAUNCHER SECTION CHIEF WITH 3RD LITTORAL REGIMENT HAD THIS TO SAY:
“IN THE FUTURE I FORSEE THE ABILITY TO GET SEVERAL DIFFERENT PLATOONS TO DIFFERENT ISLANDS TO EXPAND THE BATTLEFIELD SPACE IN OUR AREA, WHICH WE ARE ABLE TO TARGET NAVAL ASSETS.”
ONCE THE MARINE CORPS FINALIZES TESTING OF THE NMESIS, IT WILL MAKE ITS WAY TO THE FLEET MARINE FORCE.
THAT’S YOUR MARINE MINUTE. FOR MORE STORIES VISIT MARINES.MIL AND ALL THE MARINE CORPS SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES.
SEMPER FIDELIS!
