Coast Guard, partner agencies assess Coimbra wreck
U.S. Coast Guard District 1 PADET New York
May 16, 2019 | 0:17
Dive supervisors monitor a deep-water diver at the site of the Coimbra wreck 180 feet below the surface, May 16, 2019. The divers are part of the Coimbra Unified Command established to assess the wreck and remove any oil on board. The Coimbra was a supply ship owned by Great Britain during World War II. The Coimbra sank off the coast of Long Island after a German U-boat torpedoed the ship in January 1942. (FOR RELEASE. U.S. Coast Guard video by Chief Warrant Officer Allyson E.T. Conroy)
