Operational Collaboration Capabilities with Aircrew
Air Mobility Command
July 28, 2020 | 2:44
Flying squadrons from the 305th and 60th Air Mobility Wings continue to leverage Mattermost, a secure messaging application provided by PlatformONE, to maximize EFB capability - digitizing their entire flight authorization, pre-mission paperwork, and go/no-go processes, as well as all required post mission forms. Mattermost provides a secure means to transmit controlled unclassified information (CUI) rapidly to remote AMC warfighters operating anywhere in the world via mobile methods that do not require CAC-enables sites or AFNET. On 13 July 20, the Mattermost mobile application cleared security review and was released for download on the current AMC EFB. Immediate feedback from crews was extremely positive as the app streamlines processes to get information and files onto the EFB and into the apps crews use in flight. AFRL funded 50K users for one year and AMC currently has approximately 4k users on the system. The opportunity exists now to integrate 618 AOC flight managers into the system and operationally test this capability at no current cost to AMC. The next step would involve flight managers providing crew mission papers direct to aircrew EFBs - streamlining information/data dissemination and linking C2 with aircrew executing global missions. This provides secure, unclassified global C2 mission information flow on a resilient and distributed network accessible via EFB on Wi-Fi or cellular data. This long-overdue digital solution has been embraced by aircrew and MUST continue to evolve as the new standard for mission development/planning/execution data management. Through this capabilities demo video we are requesting a GO champion on the AMC staff to assist with immediate implementation across the enterprise and sustainment for future years.
