Italian Armed Forces Train the First Afghan Female Police Officer in Crime Scene Investigation Techniques - SOUNDBITES

Marziya Amiri is the first female police officer in the Afghan Police who qualified on scientific investigation procedures. She completed the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) course held by the Italian ‘Carabinieri’ serving as l an Advising Team to the Afghan Police in the Train-Advise-Assist Command West of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission. The course, held at Camp Arena, in the western Afghan city of Herat consisted of theoretical and practical lessons conducted by two Afghan instructors, assisted by officers of the Italian Armed Forces. The Afghan police officers were taught intervention procedures on the crime scene and evidence gathering procedures. Marziya obtained high marks in her training. As a result of this, she has qualified as trainer.
