Womack Transitions to DHA: Episode 1
U.S. Army Medical Command
Aug. 22, 2018 | 1:19
Congress called for changes in the Military Health System in the Fiscal Year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which redefined the roles of the military Medical Departments and the Defense Health Agency (DHA), specifically with respect to management and administration of military hospitals and clinics. The law requires that, beginning October 1, 2018, the Director of the DHA shall be responsible for the administration of each military medical treatment facility (MTF), to include: budgetary matters, information technology, health care administration and management, administrative policy and procedures, military medical construction and any other matters the Secretary of Defense determines appropriate.
U.S. Army Medical Command’s (MEDCOM) largest Medical Facility shifts their sole focus to the medical readiness of all Soldiers assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The readiness mission includes dental care of active duty Soldiers, public health services, veterinary services, and providing management and support to wounded, ill and injured Soldiers assigned to its seven warrior transition units.
