AFN Yokosuka
May 23, 2023 | 1:00
230523-N-CM740-1001 YOKOSUKA, Japan (May 23, 2023) - A one of three video series relaying the story of the bonsho, or temple bell, of Jodo-ji Temple in Yokosuka, Japan. At the conclusion of World War II, the bonsho was claimed by the U.S. Navy, taken across the Pacific Ocean, and gifted to Atlanta, Georgia. In 1961, the Bonsho was returned to the temple in Japan by way of Navy ship. Finally, in 2023, a dedication ceremony was held to celebrate the final placement of the bell at the temple.
