American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) Chief of Historical Services Mike Knapp discusses the story of an American World War I unknown service member discovered near Villers-sur- Fère, France, February 2022. Following consultations with multiple federal and foreign government agencies, ABMC will conduct a full honors military burial ceremony for the service member at the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, June 7.
ABMC maintains 26 permanent military cemeteries and 32 monuments, memorials, and markers across the world. For 100 years, ABMC has remained steadfast in its commitment to honor America’s service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the United States and its partner nations.
