Crew members from the Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) offload approximately 8,200 pounds of cocaine and 11,450 pounds of marijuana seized from suspected smugglers in the Eastern Pacific after Munro returned to their homeport at Coast Guard Base Alameda, California, March 23, 2021. Capt. Blake Novak, the commanding officer of the Munro; Wade Shannon, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration; Coast Guard Vice Adm. Linda Fagan, the commander of Coast Guard Pacific Area; and Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, mayor of Alameda addressed the crew and members of the media during the bulk contraband offload. Numerous U.S. agencies from the Departments of Defense, Justice, and Homeland Security cooperated to combat transnational organized crime, including the Coast Guard, Navy, Customs and Border Protection, FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with allied and international partner agencies.
