On this Day
June 22, 1945, the Battle of Okinawa officially ended. Marines, Sailors and Soldiers alike had participated in what is known as the last official battle of World War II. It is considered to be one of the bloodiest battles of the war and well renowned by its combatants as the “Typhoon of Steel.”
