Combat-ready comms: Airmen fine-tune tactical networks at Exercise NEXUS FORGE
4th Air Force
Feb. 12, 2025 | 1:38
At Exercise NEXUS FORGE 2025, combat communication Airmen from the 35th Combat Communication Squadron showcased their expertise in establishing secure and reliable communications in deployed environments. Working at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Staff Sgt. Catherine Robbins and Senior Airman Andrew Mungai, both radio frequency specialists, fine-tuned an Airbus 2400 Ranger Flyaway Terminal, a critical asset for maintaining connectivity at forward operating stations and main operating bases.
Strong and secure communications are essential to modern warfare, enabling real-time intelligence sharing, rapid decision-making, and seamless mission coordination across joint and allied forces. By training in realistic conditions, these Citizen Airmen ensure that U.S. forces can operate effectively in contested environments, reinforcing the Air Force Reserve’s commitment to Agile Combat Employment.
Through exercises like NEXUS FORGE, combat communication specialists strengthen the Air Force’s ability to project power globally, providing the secure and resilient networks needed for mission success in any environment. (U.S. Air Force video by Master Sgt. Jeffrey Grossi)
