All-Marines Team Wins First Medal at 2012 Warrior Games

The All-Marine team competed in the cycling competition at the 2012 Warrior Games aboard the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 1. The Marines swept the men's open. Staff Sgt. Nathan Lynch, from Vancouver, Washington, Sgt. Cogen Nelson of Clermont, Calif., and Marine veteran Brian McPherson of Nashport, Ohio 30 kilometer open. Capt. Jonathon Disbro of San Jose, Calif., won silver in the men's handicap open. Lance Cpl. Levi Marshal of Covington, Wash., won the gold in the recumbent cycle, and Cpl. Justin Gaertner of New Port Richey won the silver in the handycycle competition. The Warrior Games is a paralympic-style competition for wounded, ill or injured service members. More than 200 athletes from the Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Army will compete. The United Kingdom is competing for the first time in the Game's three-year history.
