Of Warriors & Hackers

JOINT BASE ELLINGTON FIELD, Texas — Army Reserve innovators gathered in Houston for a Code-A-Thon that began July 17, 2023. The intent of the Code-A-Thon was to build planning capabilities and host similar technology events in the future. The Code-A-Thon was hosted by the 75th Innovation Command with about 30 in attendance, along with members from the U.S. Army Futures Command and the XVIII Airborne Corps. The Army Reserve Soldiers leveraged their industry expertise in labeling operations; data science; and tech and engineering backgrounds to solve real-world Army problems.

From Enlisted Soldier to Commissioned Officer: Perseverance Led to Direct Commissioning

JOINT BASE ELLINGTON FIELD, Texas — Venkatesh Srinivasan woke up and put on his uniform on June 25, 2023, with the rank of specialist in the Army Reserve, and by the end of that morning, he was pinned captain bars. Srinivasan had persevered through a long journey to get his commission. Members of the 75th Innovation Command had the opportunity to witness a rare moment when Maj. Gen. Martin Klein, Commanding General of the 75th Innovation Command, presided over the ceremony as Srinivasan repeated the Oath of Office.

The 75th Innovation Command joins U.S. Army Futures Command and the U.S. Army Reserve in wishing the finest Army in the world - our Army, the U.S. Army - a Happy 248th Birthday. 75th Innovation Command brings unique skills to EDGE 23

ARMY YUMA PROVING GROUND, Ariz. — When Innovation Takes Flight 75th IC Soldiers took their ideas to the skies over the Yuma desert during #EDGE23, a three-week event that brought Army Futures Command’s Future Vertical Lift Cross-Functional Team and industry and international partners together to work through network connectivity, frequency communication and flying maneuvers. The event culminated with a live capabilities demonstration for senior leaders and members of Congress.

Teammates: Almost 70 years have passed since representatives from 16 countries signed an armistice that officially ceased hostilities on the Korean peninsula. That three-year conflict claimed more than 2.5 million lives, 54,246 served under the stars and stripes. It is this and other battlefields-from the towns of Lexington and Concord to the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan-that envelop Memorial Day in a solemn shroud, woven by duty, honor, and country. This weekend, I ask all reading this to join the command in reflecting on the service of past generations and the wars they fought, particularly those who were buried near where they fell in battle or returned home in flag-draped caskets surrounded by grieving friends and families. Though their fight is over, let us engrave their names and faces in our hearts and minds. The ultimate sacrifice of these brave men and women paved the way for us to chase our dreams, raise our children, and forge a future founded on peace, freedom, and equality. For that, the best we can give in return is our gratitude. I also recognize the men and women serving in the United States Army Reserve Innovation Command. Their courage and passion to solve the Army's toughest problems are second only to their humility and patriotism. They, alongside our close network of families, community leaders, and innovation partners, live the Army values everyday so we may remain the finest fighting force the world has ever known. Surge & Solve (Video): XVIII Airborne Corps, 75th Innovation Command rock it at BRAVO Hackathon

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Soldiers from the XVIII Airborne Corps and the 75th Innovation Command converged in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, March 20-24 to put their research and development skills to the test during the BRAVO Hackathon, the Department of Defense's premier innovation event where teams work round-the-clock to develop prototypes that solve the military's toughest challenges. For five days, these experts in engineering, data science, machine learning, and project management identified, tested and validated requirements for a "Factory Floor" model that synchronizes information to better construct intuitive Battle Assessment Products that empower commanders to make data-driven decisions that dominate the virtual and physical battlespace. Enduring partnerships such as the one forged between XVIII Airborne Corps and the 75th Innovation Command demonstrate the Army's active and Reserve components' commitment to create streamlined systems that will accomplish any mission, overcome any challenge, and defeat any adversary. The 75th Innovation Command's Black History Month celebrations included a trio of candid Q&A interviews: 1. Capt. Aaron D. Zenon, operations officer, Mountain View Battalion, 75th IC A native of Colorado Springs, Zenon heard the calling to join the military when he and his high school freshmen classmates saw the planes hit the Twin Towers on live television Sept. 11, 2001. A decade passed before he enlisted in the Army - unbeknownst to his parents - as a combat engineer at the age of 24. In 2015, Zenon earned his commission through an accelerated, 60-day Officer Candidate School course in Ft. McClennan, Ala. Zenon has called Houston home since he transferred to the 75th IC from the 505th Signal Brigade in 2022 He and his wife, Sonia, a former Marine and current nurse at Texas Children's Hospital, have a four-year-old daughter, Savanna. 2. Chief Warrant Officer 4 Anitia M. Lewis, counterintelligence security operations cell chief & sexual assault response coordinator, 75th IC A native of Beaumont, Texas, Lewis recently celebrated her 29th year of active duty service. She began her Army career as a Military Police officer than transitioned to military intelligence as she entered the warrant officer ranks. Lewis has three children: Deelesia (32) Ebonaire (30) and Bryron, Jr. (20) Lewis recently married Jamison Charles, who recently published his first book entitled "SAVED-ish: Sometimes It's Hell Gettin' To Heaven." 3. Master Sgt. Kisha S. White, military equal opportunity advisor, 75th IC A native of Yazoo, Miss., White began her 29-year military career in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi before transferring to the United States Army Reserve. When not wearing the uniform, Master Sgt. White serves as a Special Project Manager with Harris County, Texas. She is a proud mother of three and loves to sing.
